Emerging Nurse Educator in the 21st Century Age of Technology

Nurse educators in today’s classroom need to accommodate for the 21st century student.  21st century learners are interdependent, diverse, media driven, and have the ability to utilize technology to obtain knowledge.  Nurse educators need to incorporate a variety of technologies to assist with student-centered learning.  Many nursing classes and programs are offered in an online environment where it is imperative that educators and learners know how to use technology.  The educator’s ability to incorporate interactive teaching and learning activities is important to keep the learner engaged as well as help guide and facilitate learning and critical thinking.  The use of technology in health care is increasing and using technology in the classroom can help students develop the technological skills they will need to work in healthcare after graduation.

As a nurse educator I will utilize various technologies in the classroom to help facilitate learning and critical thinking in my students and help prepare them for working in the increasing technological advanced healthcare setting.
